One side of me would prefer to call this my visual 'journal,' as this section reflects images that I make, new techniques I try, places I explore or events that I record throughout the year . Frequently I will pair a quote with an image which often enhances or adds depth and new meaning to an image.

Thank you for your visits and comments.  Both are important!

God Bless the USA

~~~God Bless the USA~~~
If tomorrow all the things were gone
I’d worked for all my life
And I had to start again
With just my children and my wife
© Sue Henry
I’d thank my lucky stars
To be living here today
Cause the flag still stands for freedom
And they can’t take that away
And I’m proud to be an American
Where at least I know I’m free
And I won’t forget the men who died
Who gave that right to me
© Sue Henry
And I gladly stand up
Next to you and defend her still today
Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land
God bless the USA
From the lakes of Minnesota
To the hills of Tennessee
Across the plains of Texas
From sea to shining sea
From Detroit down to Houston,
And New York to L.A
Well there’s pride in every American heart
And its time we stand and say
© Sue Henry
That I’m proud to be an American
Where at least I know I’m free
And I won’t forget the men who died
Who gave that right to me
And I gladly stand up
Next to you and defend her still today
Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land
Bells Bend Park: Seeing With Different Eyes
For the most part we were the only visitors exploring Bell’s Bend Park that damp, misty morning. The air was still and the surrounding silent. I think I saw one other person walking that morning, and we only shared a very brief and hushed, “Mornin.’” The sky was gray, very overcast…and by the time we left at the end of our outing, it began to rain.
The dull, overcast day provided me with an unusual photographic opportunity that I had not anticipated. I am seldom known for photographing in black and white, however this particular morning quietly ‘spoke to me’ in black and white.
And I listened.
The soundless whispers of nature guided me to see with different eyes.
Once I saw one, I keep looking for more.
And more…
Before I knew it, I had a whole collection.
Now that I’m home, I keep coming back and reflecting on these images. Looking. Thinking. Listening. I think they have something to say in their stark simplicity and winter ‘nakedness.’
Scales Farmstead
This former farm is in the process of becomming "Scales Farmstead" on Clovercroft Road.  Perhaps we can cherish the memories through these images.
A life-long Nolensville resident once commented that inventive farmers often collected and used most any kind of material to build barns or repair damage, thus the 'Barns of Many Colors.'
The gently rolling hills dotted with natural trees are being cleared for roads and houses.  The views will never look quite the same.
This last image I call "The End of an Era."  The auction of farm contents and equipment was held 10/30/15.
Around the Christmas Tree...
